At Gustine Logistics, our story begins in 1983 when John Cochran and his brother Steve founded JS Express with just $400. Over the next two years, JS Express grew to 15 employees and significantly invested in technology and equipment. Their success was highlighted in a local newspaper, The St. Louis Globe Democrat, in April 1985 (which you can read here.)
In 1986, Steve sold his share of the company to Greg Hantak.
John and Greg transformed the local courier company into a nationwide logistics powerhouse, adding divisions like JS Trucking and JS Warehousing.
Eventually, these divisions were consolidated into what became known as JS Logistics.
In January 2003, JS Logistics hosted a meeting with then-President George W. Bush and an audience of 500 small business owners. The event received wide media coverage locally and even made it to the front page of the New York Times.
By 2016, JS Logistics had grown to 75 full-time employees, 450 independent contractors, and generated over $20 million in annual revenue.
That year, they accepted a buyout offer from US Pack Logistics but retained ownership of their headquarters at 4550 Gustine Avenue.
In the fall of 2020, after US Pack Logistics negotiated an early lease termination, John and Greg decided to create a new logistics company at the same site. On October 1, 2020, Gustine Logistics was born, led by John Cochran, Greg Hantak, Pat Hanrahan, and Greg's son Jack Hantak.
